Golden-crowned Sparrow
Zonotrichia atricapilla
Interesting and Fun Facts: The early prospectors looking for Klondike gold called the Golden-crowned "Weary Willie" because it repeatedly sang "I'm so tired!" The other name they had for the bird and its song was "No Gold Here."

Habitat, Range, and Feeding
Winters along the Pacific coast, and breeds in northwestern Canada and Alaska. Abundant in low and medium height shrub thickets, chapparral, and gardens.
The clutch size is 3 to 5 eggs, that are from pale blue to greenish blue, speckled with a reddish brown. There is evidence that they will occasionally produce a second brood.
They forage mostly on the ground for a variety of seeds, fruit, flowers, and insects.
